👨‍🔬 Governance Lab #010

gm

Welcome back to the Governance Lab, your source for all things StableLab, DAO Governance, and of course DAO drama. Still recovering from our team offsite, but we’re thriving in the Lisbon sun. Oh and on that note, if you’re at ETH Lisbon this weekend slide in our DMs to meet up and say hi. We’ll be running around all weekend. Speaking of running, we’re joining Uniswap as delegates. See below. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

p.s We’ve reached 10 newsletter editions. 🥹

This week, the SL team:
→ Becomes Uniswap Delegate
→ Submits proposals at Euler & Aave
→ Votes on 30 Governance Proposals
→ & much more

Let’s go 🍷

Lab Activity 🔬

Off to the Races at Uniswap DAO

In a bid to attract delegates to the DEX protocol, the Uniswap Foundation has launched a delegate discovery platform powered by Agora alongside a social campaign to attract governance contributors.

We are thrilled to announce that we have officially entered the campaign and are joining Uniswap DAO as a delegate. At Uniswap, we’re growing our involvement as we also currently hold a co-chair position on the Accountability Committee by way of Doo. We are committed to promoting the growth and development of Uniswap and believe that expanding our role will allow us to contribute to the platform in an impactful way.

If you’re a UNI tokenholder, consider delegating to your favorite gov team here 🫶

❲ This Week’s Proposals ❳

🆕 New Proposals

  • 👻 [TEMP CHECK] Add Support for RPL on V3

    • Protocol: Aave

    • Summary: In collaboration with Marc Zeller, we have submitted a proposal to onboard RPL to Aave v3 on Ethereum. RPL is the governance and utility token for Rocket Pool the liquid staking protocol. Onboarding this asset will allow RPL holders to earn a yield on their holdings.

    • Author: Kene & Marc Zeller

    • Status: 💬 Forum Post → Gathering community feedback

  • 🧮 [RFC] End Current DAO Expenses While Protocol is Non-Operational

    • Protocol: Euler

    • Summary: With the Euler Protocol non-operational for the immediate short-term due to the March exploit we propose ending all current service provider agreements including those with Anthias (x2), Warden Finance, & Questbook. Stopping these agreements allows these same providers an opportunity to prepare for potential service changes for Euler v2.

    • Author: Matt

    • Status: 💬 Forum Post → Gathering community feedback

MakerDAO Announces Spark Protocol Launch

On Tuesday, Phoenix Labs launched Spark Protocol a decentralized liquidity platform built directly on top of DAI. Spark Lend, the initial offering on the platform, allows users to borrow DAI directly from Maker’s D3M at a fixed rate. Initial collateral assets on the protocol include ETH and stETH with plans to onboard additional LSTs. With its lending platform, Spark aims to compete with similar protocols such as Aave and Compound. Phoenix Labs, the R&D team behind the project, built Spark by forking Aave v3's open-source code base and tailoring it to fully support DAI. Notably, a portion of the revenue generated from Spark will be directed back to Maker, along with 10% of the gross profits allocated to the Aave DAO treasury. Spark stands out as the first subDAO launched as part of Rune's Endgame plan, with more subDAOs planned soon.

Paladin Discusses Delegate Incentives

On Monday, core Paladin team member Figue submitted a post proposing creating an incentives program to increase governance participation. According to the proposal, 100K PAL would be rewarded over the next three months to active participants who meet the eligibility requirements, which include a minimum participation requirement, an obligation of transparency, a minimum delegation threshold, and registration as a member of the Paladin Association.

Optimism Preps Season 4

Optimism’s Token House is set to kick off Season 4 on June 8th. Below is a list of essential things to know ahead of season launch:

  • S4 introduced “Intents” aka collective short-term goals

    • Four intents have been agreed upon by the community and their respective budgets are now being voted.

      • Intent #1: Progress Towards Technical Decentralization

      • Intent #2: Innovate on Novel Applications

        • This encompasses the renewal of the Grants Council.

      • Intent #3: Spread Awareness of the Optimistic Vision

      • Intent #4: Governance Accessibility

    • Mission Proposals are specific initiatives that fall in line with one of the four initial Intents. These are grant proposal requests funded by each intent’s budget.

  • Renewal of the Protocol Delegation Program is poised to pass an onchain vote later today.

    • 5M OP will be available for delegation to value-aligned protocols based on pre-determined criteria.

  • Two additional proposal types are being introduced by the Foundation:

    • Treasury Appropriations - Foundation approved budget

    • Inflation Adjustment - Changes to the inflation OP token rate (currently set at 2%)
