ohayou gozaimasu ! 🌞
Welcome back to the Governance Lab, your source for all things StableLab, DAO Governance, and everything else in between. This is a special Friday edition due to some of the team being at DAO / ETH Tokyo, so we’ll keep it short and sweet.
This week, the SL team:
→ Travels to Tokyo
→ Crosses the 1000th Governance Proposal Vote
→ Is joined by Flipside for Growth AVC
→ & much more
Let’s go 👇
Lab Activity 🔬
🌸 Lost in Tokyo
This week, Bobby, Doo, and Juan (me!) are in Japan for DAO Tokyo and ETHGlobal Tokyo. 🇯🇵🏯🗼🍣🍶
On Thursday, Bobby and Doo each participated in panels as speakers. Doo joined the “Collaborative Approaches Within the DAO Ecosystem” panel to discuss how DAO operators and builders can work toward a more collaborative mindset. Meanwhile, Bobby jumped on the “Experience as Pro Delegates and DAO Contributors” panel to give his hot takes on the professional delegate landscape.
Massive thanks to the entire DAO Tokyo team for having us and for hosting such a stellar and beautiful event. 🙏 If you’re in town come say, Arigatou. 🍻
🥂 1000 Governance Votes
We have officially voted on 1000 governance proposals! What a journey it has been. Reaching this milestone is no small feat and we're incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished. Looking forward to the next one thousand votes! 💯
Notable Figures 👀
“The 1k” — Our one-thousandth vote was on an on-chain Aave proposal to change a wstETH parameter (fitting with Aave gov being so hot)
19 — Number of unique Protocols / Projects we’ve voted in
295 — MakerDAO Proposals voted on (our highest from one protocol)
251 — Aave is close behind in second place
🤝 Flipside Joins Growth AVC
With the recent formation of the Growth AVC at MakerDAO, the team at Flipside Governance has requested to join us in developing the expansion and growth-focused AVC. As pioneers in the development of MakerDAO's AVC structure, we are excited to be working alongside great teams such as Flipside.

SafeDAO Grants Program
The SafeDAO community is currently discussing plans to introduce a grants program to, “Grow a thriving community of contributors through funding ideas, projects and integrations. To support the decentralised growth and sustainability of the Safe ecosystem.”
On Wednesday, community member MetaGuardian submitted a draft proposal to the SafeDAO forums that outlines the SGPs’ initial structure, funding amount, the application process, required deliverables, and more. The program would be split into two waves. Wave 1 would commence immediately following the passing of this proposal and last for six months. Wave 2 would follow shortly after, and be based on community feedback and learnings. In this first Wave, grants will be rewarded to projects building in the following categories: Govern, Research, Growth, and Build.
According to the proposal, the SGP would be funded with 1M USD by the Safe Ecosystem Foundation (the legal wrapper for the DAO) to disburse as grant rewards. Wave 1 will receive half of this amount, with the second half going to Wave 2 later this year. In addition, the formation of a 6-person Grants Committee is proposed to “ensure that the application process will be efficient and predictable, so applicants have clear objectives and timely decisions…”
To date, SafeDAO has seen six proposals pass through its governance.
